Zotero Mac

  1. Zotero Mac

Zotero 5.0.90 for Mac is available now with the above-mentioned fixes for Big Sur. As noted above, there are still some cosmetic issues, and we (and Apple) still recommend against installing the Big Sur beta on a production machine. Dec 17, 2019 Zotero (free download for Mac, Windows, Linux). This is the software you will use to collect your research materials and generate citations. You may want to pay for an annual subscription that increases the amount of space available for storing your Zotero library in the cloud, but it’s not necessary to making this system work.

Hello, I just get a new Macbook and I discover Zotero at the same time, so my question might be dumb but how do you add links on Zotero through Safari?
I was used to the Windows version were you can easily add the link to zotero through Firefox but now with Mac I find no other way than to add by hand the link on Zotero on creating a new file.
I don't know if my question is clear, is there someone to help me please?
Je ne sais pas si ma question est claire, quelqu'un pourrait-il m'aider s'il vous plait?

Did you install the Safari connector (available on the Zotero download page)?
    edit-
I am a Mac user but for using Zotero and capturing items from publishers or databases I prefer to use Firefox.
  • May i ask you what should happen after downloading Safari connector? I can't connect word and zutero. it looks like i am missing a step but i don't know which one.
  • Okay, note that the Zotero desktop app and the Safari connector are separate programs. The Safari connector has nothing to do with Word.
So, first be sure that you have installed the Zotero desktop app from http://zotero.org/download
Then, when you open Word, the Zotero plugin should install itself. If it doesn't, then follow these steps:
    https://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_troubleshooting#zotero_toolbar_doesn_t_appear
  • I am a Mac/Safari user usually but I am finding Firefox a lot smoother for saving from the web. I also find that the links to my uni library's proxy server works more consistently with Firefox (if you make it your default browser through IOS).
  • I am having a problem with the Safari Connector. I download and install, but nothing appears to happen--no icon is added at the top of the screen. I did successfully download and install the Chrome connector and that appears to work, but Safari is my primary browser, so I'd prefer to have that connector working. I am running Safari 11.1.
  • @lahunt613: Does you see the Zotero Connector in the Extensions pane of the Safari preferences? If so, you should see a button in your toolbar — on this page it'll show a page icon. You can also right-click on the toolbar, select 'Customize Toolbar…', and look in the palette, though that shouldn't be necessary unless you've hidden it.
  • I have the same problem as @lahunt613.
After downloading the extension and double-click to install it, a pop-up window asking 'Are you sure you want to install the extension 'Zotero Connector'?' Clicking the Trust button to install but can't see Zotero Connector in the Extensions pane.
I'm running Safari Version 11.1 (13605.1.33.1.2) on macOS High Sierra Version 10.13.4
  • @dancerchris could you follow the suggestions and answer the questions posed above by dstillman?
  • I said “I can’t see the Zotero Connector in the Extension pane.”
  • Right. Sorry. Do other extensions install into Safari fine?
  • Could you try this on a different user profile on your mac and see if it works there?
  • @admomasven I tried on my Mac Book Air, it works!? Same version of macOS and Safari. Just doesn't work on this MBP :(
  • @adomasven Problem solved! Yeah! Found this article on-line

  • What a bizarre bug. Doesn't seem like there's anything we can do about that, and not at all clear why it happens on some computers and not others, but thanks for tracking it down.

This bug (or feature for extra security?) is really annoying.
  • @vladimirbizik: I responded to you in your other thread. It's definitely a bug — it doesn't happen for everyone, and it's clearly not correct macOS behavior.
